Monticello is a quiet historic settlement laid out around a square, and it is best seen slowly from the public road. Restored adobe buildings ring the plaza, San Ignacio Church stands on its north side, and the burned walls of a 1935 schoolhouse remain nearby. Placitas and Cuchillo sit close by on the same drive.
